Letter, 1845 Feb. 15, Yorkville, [S.C.,] to Dr. C[harles] L. Clawson, Pleasant Valley [Lancaster County?], S.C.

Acknowledging receipt by W.J. Clawson of a letter from C.L. Clawson relating details of his difficulty in transacting business with Stephen Pettus and advising him how to treat Pettus in the future in order to avoid such problems. Letter also rebukes Clawson for not having found a suitable wife, suggests that Elizabeth Campbell was a good matrimonial match, and commenting on the slim build of a woman in whom Clawson had expressed interest, questions whether Clawson could expect "stout and healthy children" from the "deminutive flame would about whom you talk."
